I have relayed your situation to the local Moldflow technical sales rep in your area. I believe that it was this formatting that modified locking criteria on the machine and thus changed your server code. Upgrading the OS shouldn’t have impacted your server code, but you mentioned some level of formatting that this time caused the problem. We are unable to generate new licenses for this product, unfortunately. The error you are getting (via the image of the old Moldflow Product Security window) has no resolution that I’m aware of short of a new key. Essentially changing anything would break it permanently, at least until a new key is generated. It simply generates a new, random server code.
The problem is, as a random server code, simply rolling back changes doesn’t fix it. We used to have to regenerate keys quite frequently because of this, as anytime customers updated their system in a meaningful way that modified any of the relevant computer settings, it’d modify the server code. If any of those computer components were changed, the random number generated would conflict with the license registration and invalidate the key. This server code was a random number generated via a number of computer settings (hostname, MAC address, NIC, etc.). Prior to the ADSK acquisition, Moldflow licenses were generated based on a server code for the machine designated to be the license server. It depends on the extent of changes relative to the server itself.
If we have a license that was very expensive and is still enough for our needs I would like you to help me to get this version to work. In our organization we use several software from Autodesk, but we can't afford to throw money away. What has change since then, that I make a fresh OS install only the the software, I copy the same key file to this machine and I can't activate. This is what I don't understand, When I install the software I am using the key file that I have stored in another disk which is the same that I've used two years ago when I activated the software the last time. I already tried to format this machine with windows xp 64 bit (the original OS) and I get the same error. My problem started when I tried to format with windows 7 again. Hello dear know that on the specification it says that Vista is the latest supported OS, but when I've installed on the same machine with Windows 7 2 years ago, it gave me no problem when I've activated.
